On June 30, 2009 in Hosanna Ethiopia- a man traveled a very long hard distance carrying his sick and dieing child. It's been two years since he's laid hands on his child, but he now knows that his child lives, gives, thrives, loves. I can not begin to explain how much work he's done to be able to do this. I could start by showing you pictures of physical therapy with his feet literally strapped to the pedals of a trike. Or show you video of him attempting to steer that trike will also attempting to pedal.

I remember a few things about this day. It was kinda crazy. First, we needed to leave an hour earlier than planned, and Mr. T did not want to wake up that morning. By this point, I was no longer sweating the small stuff. I got myself ready and figured if he goes in his PJ's so freaking what.

Recently, I wrote an update to our Travel Crew. As we are nearing our 'one year' dates, I'd already received an email from just about all of our 8 families. I think our group was quite unique in that of the 8 families- 7 were adopting 2 & 3 year olds (one of which had two adorable sisters also joining the family who were older. We landed in JFK- stretched our legs and got some food and drink before waiting at the wrong gate for a while.
A day later (in some space time continuum lapse) we were in Nairobi Kenya. Ryan looking for our bags for a few hours. I'm not great at letting go. Letting go of things I'm emotionally invested in. It's what causes me to take on too many work projects. It causes me to hang onto relationships that have lived their life, or season, as it should be.
But I'm trying. I have to.

Oxymoron?.....As a new family, I'm finding it hard to 'know' what we 'do' for traditions. Holidays. Celebrations. This time of year, we have some new (to me) ones to celebrate. Ghenna. Timkat. And Our Family day are all in January. So in still recovering from the 'other' holidays, we didn't celebrate Ghenna this year. I'm torn by that. Really I am.
